Men’s Physique is not out of control Posted: 14 Apr 2021 02:58 PM PDT I've noticed that whenever a MP athlete besides Sadik or Steve Cook from like a hundred years ago gets posted, the comments are awash with people currently criticizing the current state of the division. Someone inevitably trots out the claim that current MP guys are "bigger than classic." I'm not going to make this about aesthetic appeal, which is inherently subjective, but the hyperbole is getting a bit ridiculous. Have MP standards gotten bigger? Sure. Are MP athletes "open guys in board shorts"? Fuck no. Everyone has some story of their buddy's cousin from college who trains at some gym and there's an MP guy there and he's the size of Phil Heath, bro. MP has plenty of flaws (dated ass board shorts, weird posing, fuccboi personalities) but can we all stop pretending that the division has turned into some kind of crazy showdown of mass monsters? Do people really want to watch a competition of "attainable beach bodies" that features a bunch of guys who look like they've sort of lifted for a year or so? [link] [comments] |
