Why am I still losing weight at 2500 calories?

    Posted: 17 Aug 2020 10:31 PM PDT

Last week my weight was 154.7 pounds. Today my weight is 152.3 pounds. That's about 2.4 pounds loss. The average amount of calories I eat are 2.458 (highest 2.640, lowest 2.010). However online it says you need to be in a 1.000 caloric deficit to lose that much weight in a week. But it just seems like a lot of food to me, even 2.500. I'm just trying to maintain my weight. I work out 3-4 times a week and bike ride to work which is about 1hr a day or 12 miles. I also walk around all day at work and lift some heavy stuff. Can I really eat 3.500 to maintain my weight?

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Fitness/comments/2e79y4/dumbbell_ppl_proposed_alternative_to_dumbbell/

Ive seen this in the recommend section, but ive also seen people say that Dumbell alone isnt the best way to do PPL. Curious if people have tried it and got good results with it.

Question is, what's the best way to going about losing fat and what's the best way to build muscle? I'm pretty new to all of this stuff so I genuinely have no idea where to begin so any advice will be hugely appreciated:)

How/where do you go running when the weather sucks?

    Posted: 18 Aug 2020 03:53 AM PDT

So I started to go running a few months ago and started to really love it. I mean really enjoy it. I make good progress, I have fun and it feels like I run all my stress away.

So to question: I go running outside since the weather is fantastic right now, but what do you guys do when the weather is against you? If it rains or when winter comes? Do you go into gyms or do you have any good alternatives for someone that discovered his love for running? I have to admit, the thought of running in the rain or slipping on snow/ice is not really appealing for me. Also dangerous of course.

What works best for muscle growth?

    Posted: 18 Aug 2020 03:43 AM PDT

I go to the gym 2 times a week doing full body workouts, but I don't know what is best for me. I am a skinny guy who barely has fat. So should I be doing isolated exercises on machines or only compound exercises, or a combination of both? And what is best for muscle growth, 3 sets of 10 reps or 5 sets of 5 reps? Thanks

    Confused with BMR's & Macros

    Posted: 18 Aug 2020 03:22 AM PDT

TL;DR: 110 kg, 178 cm Height, 24 year old Male around %30 bodyfat. Active at Work & 3 times a week workouts. Asking for recommendations on calories & macros.

Some years ago i've managed to lose about 40 kg through dieting and light exercise, I did it so without much care as i ate from 1200 - 1500 calories, without caring for macros, lost a lot of muscle in the process too. About 2 years ago I went as an erasmus student to Spain and gained a bunch of weight again. I was at 118 kg about 2 months ago, now i've dropped down to 110 and want to go down to 90 kg.

With that out of the way, I have much more knowledge about the body, calories and how working out etc. But my goals have shifted. I want to drop down to 90 kgs with the least amount of muscle lost (as some will be lost inevidably) while working out 3 - 4 times a week doing split training of chest-biceps/back-triceps/shoulders-legs. Thought lately i've been confused once again by all the calculations the internet offers.

I'm a 110 kg, 24 y. Male at 178 cm height. I have about %30 bodyfat, I've been trying to eat 160 - 200g of protein, 130g of carbs and 60g of Fats while working out 3 - 4 times a week and being quite active at work ( 6500 - 9000 steps a day at work on usual days, 10k+ on busy days). Those macros equal to about 1700 calories at minimum, though it usually goes up to like 1900~ as well. Just can't decide if it's too high in calories for an optimal fat loss process.

Are online BMR's trustworthy ? Should I just focus on my macros?

Suggestion for modifing Grey Skull LP

    Posted: 18 Aug 2020 01:51 AM PDT

    Hello all,

I turned 40 last June and I'm mostly a desk junkie. I'm about 183 cm tall, 84 kg, and around 42" waist. I'm an out of shape skinny fat, with pear shape stomach.

I started the Grey Skull LP Phrak workout and wanted to get some suggestions on how to modify the work out.

My goal is to have more or an aesthetic look and become more flexible. I cannot not pass my shins and would like to touch my toes.

I'm using the Grey Skull LP Phraks workout app and I feel like 3 exercises isn't enough for Mon, Wed, and Thurs. I was considering to add 1 more workout on those days.

Is it good or bad idea? Should I just stick to the plan?

    Any thoughts or suggestions.

    Greatly appreciated,

    Thanks,

    czulsk

Is doing the same exercises for muscle groups every week okay?

    Posted: 17 Aug 2020 03:30 PM PDT

Hi guys and gals, first time posting here!

I'm 22M, 5'2 and have been going to the gym for a good year now, its done wonders for my confidence and a lot of people have commented that my physique is better, but as the title suggests, I've been struggling recently with what to do in the gym. I generally do muscle group activities - Legs & core, Back and biceps, shoulders and cardio, chest and triceps. Usually around 4 exercises of each apart from 6 exercsies for legs and shoulders, each having 4 sets.

What I would like to know from all of you lovely people, is doing the same 4 exercises for each muscle group week in week out going to be good enough, or would i need to have some form of variance? For example having a 2 week rotation of exercises to do where one week i do one thing, second i do another then repeat?

I'm wanting to just generally look better, bigger and more defined muscles but not absolutely huge, as that'd look rather funny at my height.

    Any help is appreciated!!

Edit: Looking at the comments ill give an example:
For shoulders I'd do something like-
    Millitary press - 4 sets @ 8 reps
    Arnold Press - 4 sets @ 8 reps
    Lateral raise - 4 sets @ 8 reps
    Front raise - 4 sets @ 8 reps
    Around the worlds - 4 sets @ 8 reps

And for chest I'd do -
    Bench press - 4 sets @ 6 reps
    Incline plate press - 4 sets @ 8 reps
    Chest Flys - 4 sets @ 8 reps
    Squeezed dumbell press - 4 sets @ 8 reps

    What’s the difference?

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 08:35 PM PDT

I've noticed a large difference in two different leg press machines. I've been pushing 90lbs weights on the old school leg press. The one where you have to load up the weights yourself. Then I'll go push 150lbs on the actual machine where you push the plate, and your body moves back.

So what's the difference and which gives better results?

Is tempo training useful if max strength is the goal?

    Posted: 14 Aug 2020 08:35 PM PDT

As the title says, would it be beneficial for max strength if I incorporated tempo into my training? eg 5x5r 2-1-X-0 tempo

or should I ignore tempo since tempo training will limit the amount of weight I can lift

    Physique Phriday

    Posted: 14 Aug 2020 03:04 AM PDT

Welcome to the Physique Phriday thread

What's the point of having people guess your body fat? Nevermind that it's the most inaccurate method available, (read: most likely way wrong - see here) you're still just putting an arbitrary number to the body you have. Despite people's claim that they are shooting for a number, they're really shooting for look - like a six pack.

So let's stopping mucking around with trivialities and get to the heart of the matter. This thread shall serve two purposes:

    1. Physique critiques. Post some pics and ask about muscles or body parts you need to work on. Or specifically ask about a lagging body part and what exercises worked for others.
    2. An outlet for people that want to show off their efforts that would otherwise be removed due to Rule 4, and

Let's keep things civil, don't be a creep, and adhere to Rule 1. This isn't a thread to announce what you find attractive in a mate. Please use the report function for any comments that are out of line.

So phittit, what's your physique pheel like this phriday?
