    Posted: 05 Aug 2020 03:04 AM PDT

Welcome to the /r/Fitness Daily Simple Questions Thread - Our daily thread to ask about all things fitness. Post your questions here related to your diet and nutrition or your training routine and exercises. Anyone can post a question and the community as a whole is invited and encouraged to provide an answer.

As always, be sure to read the wiki first. Like, all of it.

Also, there's a handy-dandy search bar to your right, and if you didn't know, you can also use Google to search fittit by using the limiter "site:reddit.com/r/fitness" after your search topic.

Other good resources to search are Exrx.net for exercise-related topics and Examine.com for nutrition and supplement science.

Be aware that the more relevant information you add, the more relevant the answers you receive will be. And if you are posting about your routine, please make sure you follow the guidelines.

(Please note: This is not a place for general small talk or chit-chat. Also, the community decided long ago that we keep jokes, trolling, and memes outside of the Daily Q&A threads. Please use the downvote / report button when necessary.)

Should my 'B' day start with deadlifts or OHP?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 03:53 PM PDT

I've only done basic strength programs but with minor programming differences over time. Doing the conventional 1x5 deadlift lead me to a stall for literal months with fruitless attempts to deload/reload, but increasing to 3x5 shot me way beyond with consistent increases. Only issue is now my OHP is stalled at 145lbs for a month because the DLs tax my traps/shoulders from the increased weight and volume.

I generally preferred doing the 'heaviest' lift first, but I speculate that switching the ohp and DL order would help the ohp without too much detriment to the DL? Curious how others doing basic strength programs decide on the day's order.

Not feeling bicep workouts in my biceps?

    Posted: 05 Aug 2020 04:02 AM PDT

I've started getting into fitness during lockdown meaning I have no access to gyms or trainers and I am doing everything at home, I have no doubt i am performing quite a few exercises incorrectly so I am looking for some advice. Whenever I workout my biceps during and after the workout I seem to get immense pain in my lower arm (I looked up a muscle chart, the muscle is called flexor carpi radialis) and not much in my bicep at all. Is this normal for a beginner? Or am I doing something very wrong and if so how can I fix it?

I think I'm having a burnout. I'll rest for 7 days and come back at it once I feel refreshed. Any advice?

How do I know if I’m getting a good workout?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 11:05 PM PDT

    For reference— 5'8 (f) 185 lbs.

For several months I've been running consistently on a treadmill for 1 hour a day at 5mph. So, each session, I run about 5 miles.

Recently, though, I took up shuffle / electro swing dancing. It's super fun! The moves are very explosive and footwork intensive.

I realized quickly that both running and dancing are exhausting, and that I can only probably do an hour of one or the other per day.

I've been mixing it up, dancing or running, but I don't really know how tell which workout is better. I don't have a way to track how much I'm moving around when I dance.

    Any advice?

Is long-term strength training bad for heart?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 11:18 PM PDT

Hey people i've been reading that competitive marathon is actually bad for your heart. While i'm not a marathon runner i do a lot of muscle strength training, i want to know if that is also, in the long term, bad for your heart as well? Thank you.
