Would I get any muscle build if I do 50 pushups, 50 situps, 50 squats, 50 bicep curls and 15 pull ups a day?

YouTube workout routines, form and wrist pain

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 11:44 AM PDT

Hi everyone! I am just getting started with my fitness journey this year.

In Feb/March, I was going for several drop-in classes at the local YMCA. I was going ~3 times a week, and really liked having someone else tell me what to do, how to do it. Of course, then COVID happened.

Recently a friend told me about the chloe ting 2 week shred challenge, and we are following her routine now. Day 9 today. I also do a warmup (usually 20 min yoga) and stretch after.

I wanted to know what people think of the challenge generally? I find she doesn't teach a lot of form, not sure how safe or effective the routine is.

Also I did notice that the exercises require you to put weight on your arms / wrists. My wrists have been ok during the exercises, but at random times during the day, my left wrist seems to buckle. Not pain exactly, it just gives way. Is this something that I should just power through, it'll get better with more experience? Or could this be a precursor to injury?

If not chloe ting, what other program would you recommend?

A little motivation for those of us who are new to strength training

    Posted: 05 Jul 2020 01:12 AM PDT

New weightlifters shouldn't be discouraged when they don't see gains right away. Apparently, our nervous system needs to catch up so we can use our muscles more effectively.

"You need to train your nervous system to activate muscles more strongly; only when this is done will you actually start adding muscle mass." — researcher in a recent study on this topic

Not sure how long it's supposed to take, but I'm taking this encouragement where I can get it for now.

So I have started doing 50 squats every day. No external weight used. Just bodyweight.
