Do "sweat belts" work or did I just buy something that makes me sweat a bit and that's it?

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 08:13 PM PDT

Not really sure if there's a better name for this. The package calls it a "Wide Waist Trimmer" but I think "sweat belt" gives the best impression. I bought one cause it seems like it would help with a targeted burn of my body fat in a specific area. For me I put it on, you guessed it, my waist. I bought this like three days ago and I've been trying it out just to see how my body will react to forcing it to sweat throughout the day or for a couple of hours before using it during actual exercises.

I want to make it clear I didn't just buy this to be lazy and sit up all day just sweating my fat away. I'd rather put in the effort to work out and get the body I want rather than take the easy way out.

So far when I put it on I'll end up sweating a fair amount but it doesn't seem like its doing much. I'm really just wondering if I should keep this on while I'm working out. The sweating is kind of gross but I don't feel any major health problems so if it does help I'll work with it.

I've soon had 2 months with back pain/stiff back. Better to stop going to gym?

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 02:10 AM PDT

Been to the gym for 4 months. The first 2 months went smooth. Then one day when I did leg press (sitting on a chair while pushing a platform outwards) i've had a stiff lower back for 2 months. It can be hard to put on shoes, going up from bed etc.

Yesterday I trained my back and it got even worse now. Now it's almost as a burning sensation, + more stiff than previous.

I feel like quitting gym for a few weeks but I've heard that you will lose all results quickly

Eight Week Routine: Is this appropriate for a total beginner?

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 03:27 AM PDT

I'm pretty motivated to get into a fitness routine from being fairly out of shape and I know that I do best when there's an ambitious goal that I can cross off my list on a daily basis. What do you all think about the following plan on alternating days for eight weeks with one day of rest? This would be completed alongside the eight-week Couch to 5k.

    Weeks 1 and 2:
Day A: planks totaling 1 minute, 40 crunches
    Day B: 15 squats, 25 modified push-ups, 15 dips, 15 rows

    Weeks 3 and 4:
Day A: planks totaling 1.5 minutes, 60 crunches
    Day B: 25 squats, 40 modified push-ups, 25 dips, 25 rows

    Weeks 5 and 6:
Day A: planks totaling 2 minutes, 40 crunches with light hand weights
    Day B: 30 squats, 12 push-ups, 30 dips, 30 rows

    Weeks 7 and 8:
Day A: planks totaling 3 minutes, 30 crunches with medicine ball
    Day B: 30 squats, 20 push-ups, 30 dips, 30 rows
