Beginner Fitness: Mood drops after exercise

    Mood drops after exercise

    Posted: 22 May 2021 10:29 AM PDT

I've improved a lot after my panicky post here about how terrible I was at exercising, which is good. I've got up to 35 minutes moderate aerobics a day on at least a few days a week, aiming to get up to an hour a day. (Yes, I know diet is also relevant, working on that elsewhere, complicated issues with food so I don't really want to discuss it right now.) I'm happy with my progress, but the after-effects of exercise tend to leave me with a weird disconnected sad feeling. I've heard this isn't all that unusual, but is there anything I can do other than wait for it to go away? Will it decrease as I get more used to it?

Is high rep floor press a waste of time for muscle building?

    Posted: 22 May 2021 05:34 PM PDT

I'm trying to gain muscle but I don't have a bench to press on and don't have easy access to a gym. I have been workin out from home with dumbells. I am trying to increase the weight I use when doing a floor press but my forearms aren't strong enough to lift the weights above me to get into the starting position. When I decrease the weight slightly to a weight I can get into the starting position, I can easily do about 25-30 reps, which is significantly higher than the 6-12 range that is best for muscle building. Is there any alternative to me forking out some money to buy a bench and a barbell so that I can put it in the starting position using the handles?

Is there a difference? I heard chair dips are really good if you want insane triceps that jut out

Is my cardio routine too intensive?

    Posted: 22 May 2021 02:00 AM PDT

I don't know if this is silly or not but bear with me. I go to the gym 3 times a week and the only exercise I do is use an eliptical for 10-15 minutes (175 kcal burned) and a rowing machine for 10 minutes (around 125 kcal). I don't really take a break in between the exercise apart from drinking water and wiping down the equipment with disinfectant.

I burn around 300 kcal (going off the counter on the equipment I know they can be inaccurate) in a period of around 25-30 minutes (including the break etc.), is that ok or is it too intense? I'm new to exercising so I'm scared to overexert my body but I'm also not sure if I'm just being overly anxious. Over the past week or so I've started getting heart pains that I think might be related to this so Im just wondering if that's a sign I could be doing this too much? I'll probably do it less frequently from now on but do you think this sort of cardio routine is worth it at all? I'm only really trying to warm up myself to the idea of going to the gym and burning some calories at the moment rather than having the most efficient routine so is this good enough or should I find another routine?
