Feel free to post things in the Daily Discussion Thread that don't warrant a subreddit-level discussion. Although most of our posting rules will be relaxed here, you should still consider your audience when posting. Most importantly, show respect to your fellow redditors. General redditiquette always applies.

    Mandatory Pose Wednesday: Side Chest

    Posted: 06 Jan 2021 06:52 AM PST

Welcome back everyone to Mandatory Pose Wednesday! We have a new rule so please make sure to read them!

The main rule for these weekly threads will be that if you are not a verified competitor, you are not to give advice or coaching to those seeking help.

How does one become a verified competitor? Send a modmail with your stage shots and we will work with you to get you verified. Verified competitors will have their flair adjusted for easy identification. Most will get "Verified Competitor ✅" and those who already have custom flair will get ✅ added to it. We will try to verify some of you ahead of time based on the more active known competitors in the sub but this is a call to service for those members in the sub to give trustworthy advice in these threads.

Those who are not verified competitors will be warned once in these threads if they are giving advice or coaching followed by a ban from those threads. Feel free to continue to give advice in the daily discussion but these threads will be for coaching from verified competitors only.

    1) Lower body start! Face the side, then put the ball of the outside foot (the one that faces the audience) into the instep of the inside foot. Spike the outside toe flexing the calf. Drag your outside leg across your inside leg to elongate the muscles, then put your inside knee behind your outside knee into your hamstring, and squish both legs together as you sit into the stance. This is what gives that freaky hamstring look from the side. It is actually the other leg in the back that is making the muscles "pop" by squishing it out.

    2) Scoop your rear pec with your rear bicep. Squish and flex the bicep into the side of the pec, this will help make it appear bigger, and bring out some striations.

    3) Grab the wrist of your outside arm with an over top grip, make a fist with the outside hand, palm up.

    4) Brace tightly with your inside arm, while making a movement to "pull away" with the outside arm. This will force everything in the outside arm to flex, from your shoulders right down to your forearms. This will also help to bring out the rear delt, which will make the shoulder appear larger, and fuller.

    5) Rotate your torso and half face the judges while keeping the legs pointed straight ahead. Smile!

    Examples:

    2010 Olympia

    2020 Olypmia

    Cbum 2020

Chris Bumstead getting coached by Steve Weinberger

Sarah Villegas (women you can participate too!)

    What we're here for:

Critique the pose, not the poser

Everybody is welcome to participate, this aint mirin mondays so dont worry about the status of your bulk or cut. We are here to improve.

Every pose can be hit in more than one fashion.

Individual criticisms tailored to the posters physique are absolutely welcome!

    Weakpoint Wednesday: Shoulders

    Posted: 06 Jan 2021 06:37 AM PST

Welcome back to Weakpoint Wednesdays! Please read the new rule before posting!

The main rule for these weekly threads will be that if you do not post photo credentials, you are not to give advice or coaching to those seeking help.

You guys really seemed upset about 1 week of a thread where only competitors could comment, so we loosened them up a little bit. If you are offering any advice to people in the comment section, credentials must be posted. 1st offense is a warning and a 2nd offense is a ban.

Helpful things to include in your comment!:

    • exercise selection

    • exercise execution techniques

    • frequency

    • intensity

Thank you for joining us in these threads again!

favorite/most interesting/most bizarre bodybuilding content creators?

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 09:47 PM PST

    hey team,

I'm doing some research into the bodybuilding community at the moment, and I'm factinated by some of the personalities that I've been told about from over the years.

people like rich piana, zyzz, and dave goliath have such interesting and often heartbreaking stories. I've also been interested in controversies like the idea that athlean-x is using fake weights.

are there any other creators with interesting stories and personas that you might recommend me?

    thanks!
