Welcome to the /r/Fitness Daily Simple Questions Thread - Our daily thread to ask about all things fitness. Post your questions here related to your diet and nutrition or your training routine and exercises. Anyone can post a question and the community as a whole is invited and encouraged to provide an answer.

As always, be sure to read the wiki first. Like, all of it. Rule #0 still applies in this thread.

Also, there's a handy search function to your right, and if you didn't know, you can also use Google to search r/Fitness by using the limiter "site:reddit.com/r/fitness" after your search topic.

Other good resources to check first are Exrx.net for exercise-related topics and Examine.com for nutrition and supplement science.

If you are posting a routine critique request, make sure you follow the guidelines for including enough detail.

(Please note: This is not a place for general small talk, chit-chat, jokes, memes, "Dear Diary" type comments, shitposting, or non-fitness questions. It is for fitness questions only, and only those that are serious.)

    Kettle Bells or Dumb Bells

    Posted: 30 Jan 2021 02:02 PM PST

I am tight for both space and funds at the moment, but in desperate need to get fit again. I can only afford a pair of either KB's or DB's and was wondering which would provide me with the best full body routine? Specifically I am looking at either Bowflex adjustable KB or DB designs. Thanks for all your insights.

Do tendons require the same minimum and optimal effective volume as muscles?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 04:36 AM PST

If they require less volume, then it would be a good idea to switch periods of muscle growth with tendon growth to make sure the tendons don't run behind which will lead to injury. But maybe there is no research done for this yet.

Is it normal to have an HR of 180-200 doing just moderate cardio? Heart was cleared by cardiologist a couple of months ago but still feels weird

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 05:20 AM PST

I started doing cardio at home a couple of weeks ago since gyms are closed here. Also bought a Garmin watch to see how my HR performs. Doing squats, jumping jacks, quick floor planks, dance moves (lol) and jogging around for a bit has my HR around 180-200. Highest HR I've measured is 205 which just can't be accurate, right?

Kinda got spooked I'm doing too much or theres something wrong with my HR because I don't consider this type of exercise intense...

    Balance issues

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 12:06 AM PST

    Hello

I am 34 and trying to get fit. I weight 102kg at start of this year, currently at 98kg.

My problem is that I have long standing issues with balance and stability because I was in a very bad car accident when I was just over 1 year old. It of course can improve once my core stability improves, but can never be at the level of regular people.

As such, I've been having difficulty doing exercises like lunges, mountain climbers and burpees. I'm pretty slow on my feet because I need extra time to balance myself so it's embarrassing when I'm in a class (I've been trying to keep up with Barry's Bootcamp for the past few weeks, slowly getting better).

I am of course guessing that the reason I can't keep up with these exercises is because of my balance issues, so my question is, is this a common issue? Do people with poor balance just find that they can't do these exercises properly?

What are some ways to maintain proper form when you have stability issues?
