    Posted: 16 Jan 2021 02:00 AM PST

Welcome to the /r/Fitness Daily Simple Questions Thread - Our daily thread to ask about all things fitness. Post your questions here related to your diet and nutrition or your training routine and exercises. Anyone can post a question and the community as a whole is invited and encouraged to provide an answer.

As always, be sure to read the wiki first. Like, all of it. Rule #0 still applies in this thread.

Also, there's a handy search function to your right, and if you didn't know, you can also use Google to search r/Fitness by using the limiter "site:reddit.com/r/fitness" after your search topic.

Other good resources to check first are Exrx.net for exercise-related topics and Examine.com for nutrition and supplement science.

If you are posting a routine critique request, make sure you follow the guidelines for including enough detail.

(Please note: This is not a place for general small talk, chit-chat, jokes, memes, "Dear Diary" type comments, shitposting, or non-fitness questions. It is for fitness questions only, and only those that are serious.)

    runners high without running....?

    Posted: 16 Jan 2021 02:02 AM PST

just started running, for mental health benefits. nothing ive tried is like it, 20-30 minutes of running leaving me feeling amazing for 24 hours or so.

but as im just starting out im getting overuse injury issues. mostly my knees. i know this is a case of doing too much too soon and when muscles strengthen it should lessen (ive researched proper form to stop it, my form isnt an issue).

i was wondering, is there another exercise that will give me the same endorphins/runners high as running, that i could do in the meantime.

last time i attempted running and got niggling injuries i hopped on the push bike. ill be honest i only did like 1-2 sessions... but it didnt seem to give me that same runners high feeling as running did. 20-30 minutes of running does it every time for me without fail.

maybe i did cycle long enough? maybe if i cycled longer id have got the runners high endorphin benefits.

what about a rowing machine? will that give me a runners high equal to running?

i know rowing and cycling may strengthen my legs so in the long run i can get back to running without the injury issues on my knee. but are they ok to do every day without causing knee issues themselves in the beggining?

im worries nothing will give me that feeling that running does. and mentally im in a place now i need it, every day. i cant really afford to wait for 4 months to strengthen my legs in order to be able to run enough to get it without injury

    Sites for workout equipment?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 10:49 PM PST

Any other sites other than Amazon that are good for buying workout equipment? Things like barbells, dumbbells, pull up towers.

I've dropped 50lbs in a year. Help please

    Posted: 16 Jan 2021 04:46 AM PST

I work a job where I walk a lot, and run after work with my dog. According to my Fitbit, it's well over 10 miles a day, and I climb 2 story racks over 100 times a day to pull warehouse parts. I'm dropping weight every day. I loath cooking, as I was a chef for 15 years. I'm starting to look like a skeleton. I'm 6'3" and 150lbs now. What can I do to gain weight easily without having to cook? My diet is cereal and canned soups. Protein powder tastes like chalk and dehydrates me.

    Barbell rows

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 10:15 PM PST

I'm currently looking at the exercise presented in the title, I can't really tell the difference between a deadlift and a barbell row. Also is it ok if I do this exercise with 1 inch bar instead of a 2 inch.

Need advice for my diet and training

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 08:27 PM PST

I'm currently 17 , I'm about 5"11 and weight 170lbs. I'm pretty slim , and have little muscle. My goal is to get abs and gets some decent looking arms. Not worried about my chest because I have gyno but don't want to neglect it either . I was wondering what I should do for training and diet. Right now I'm only eating 1500 calories because I'm not very active and I'm trying to lose down to 160. Any advice would be appreciated
