Daily Simple Questions Thread - November 28, 2020

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 02:04 AM PST

Welcome to the /r/Fitness Daily Simple Questions Thread - Our daily thread to ask about all things fitness. Post your questions here related to your diet and nutrition or your training routine and exercises. Anyone can post a question and the community as a whole is invited and encouraged to provide an answer.

As always, be sure to read the wiki first. Like, all of it.

Also, there's a handy-dandy search bar to your right, and if you didn't know, you can also use Google to search fittit by using the limiter "site:reddit.com/r/fitness" after your search topic.

Other good resources to search are Exrx.net for exercise-related topics and Examine.com for nutrition and supplement science.

Be aware that the more relevant information you add, the more relevant the answers you receive will be. And if you are posting about your routine, please make sure you follow the guidelines.

(Please note: This is not a place for general small talk or chit-chat. Also, the community decided long ago that we keep jokes, trolling, and memes outside of the Daily Q&A threads. Please use the downvote / report button when necessary.)

Stationary bike workout at the gym

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 12:55 AM PST

It has always been my dream to go on long bike rides in nature like I did in high school. But neither do I currently own a bike nor am i in good shape.

I need to start from square one. I find myself easily tiring out on stationary bike after 1 Min on resistance 7. I fare better with running but I want to bike. How do I build my stamina for biking at a gym? I don't have a stationary bike at home so I can't follow a specific program.

Who burns more calories in the same workout: Fat person vs Muscular person with same weight

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 02:52 AM PST

If two people with different Body Fat %, but same weight, run the same distance at the same speed, will they use up the same amount of calories? We want to exclude BMR from this, and only focus on calories lost exclusively as a result of the workout.

    Question about powerlifting program

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 03:22 AM PST

Lets say the program asks me to do 4x8 for bench and increase it by 2.5kg a week. Lets say I can do 80kg for 8 reps easy for 1 set but not 4 sets. Should I increase it to 82.5kg for the first set and then go down back to 80 for the last few sets when I get fatigued OR keep staying on 80kg until I can easily do it 4x8?

    Weaker after days off?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 11:05 PM PST

I had to study for my exams so I had to take a couple of days off the gym (about 4). Today I went back and I attempted to run over my usual routine, though I noticed I actually couldn't rep the weights I usually did, and for some exercises I had to drop by a pound or two. Is this normal? Would this also mean I had loss muscle?
