Why did the muscles of older bodybuilders look more dense than the ones today?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 04:33 AM PST

I'm not talking about the bloated belly proportion of today, but rather the fact that bodybuilders just looked more dense back in the day. I mean if you compare guys like Dorian Yates, Franco Columbu, Mentzer, and others back in the day, their muscle looked more dense and striated than the guys today. Today the muscle almost look bloated and round for some reason. Is this due to different drug protocols or different training modalities?
