Beginner Fitness: Hey Guys, I'm pretty new to fitness and I found this exercise list that has helped me out a lot. You can filter on muscle group, skill level, and equipment. There's even a demo video. Being new to this stuff, this has helped me a little!

Weak af and wanting to get fit; where do I start?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 10:52 AM PST

    Hi, first time posting.

Little background: 28F, 5'7" and 233 lbs. Was going to the gym with a friend, but due to family issues she stopped going and I wasn't motivated to go by myself. Im trying to lose weight for a variety of reasons but also want to become more fit because, as it stands, my arms get tired/ slightly sore from carrying an overly full bag of dog doodoo for too long... 🙄😓 about a year ago (give or take) I messed up my lower left side of my back while doing deadlifts and it took six months to fully heal, so I'm trying to avoid those as much as possible so as not to repeat that.

Where do I start? Which muscle groups should I focus on, and what moves would be best to try?

    Self conscious and starting out.

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 07:58 PM PST

I (f27) am trying to get back into going to the gym again after not going for a little over a year. I am pretty overweight and looking to make a serious change. I know diet and exercise go hand in hand and the diet part i can figure out but the exercise part not so much. I'm not sure where to start if I'm honest. I usually ride the bike for 25 mins at a moderate pace then kind of just use the machines. I feel awkward and self conscious using free weights and tbh I'm not too sure on form or what to do. Would it be a bad idea to keep using machines? If not any recommendations on what I should be doing for rep and weight wise. Any advice is appreciated.

    Trying to get stronger

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 10:45 PM PST

    Background:

22F 101kg. I've been fat all my life. Used to eat quite horribly, mistreat myself but I'm finally on a good path to being comfortable with myself. I can look at myself in the mirror, I can wear tight trousers without puking etc.

Anyway, I want to get to a point in my life where I can do like 25 pushups without my arms giving out on me. I know I'm far from that, but I'm really eager to start out. I already eat fairly well, I'm not perfect or anything but my sweet tooth is under control and I honestly don't drink anything other than water.

I'm looking for a workout plan that I can do in the mornings before work (I thoroughly hate working out in the evenings). Running isn't an option, I'm a woman and I can't leave the house that early unless I want to get assaulted.

I'm ready to put in the work and level up my strength.

    "Problem areas" - arms, stomach

Thanks for reading and any help would be greatly appreciated ♥️♥️

    Stress less body weight routines

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 02:24 PM PST

Hello, fellow Redditors! I noticed that many people in this thread need some basic routines to start with. I gathered some opinions here regarding the best exercises to start with and most agreed that bodyweight exercises were the best. So here is a simple Telegram bot that will help with creating your exercises routine. The bot will also ask you to rate your sleep, mood and well-being so it could scale the workout for you. I.e. if you're tired/lacking sleep etc. it will give you an easy one and vice versa. I selected on the basis of dimensional system (pull/push and hip-dominant/knee-dominant) and I included links to Youtube videos for better understanding.

I believe that's the best approach for people working hard in the office or at home. You must take care of yourself. You don't need to spend many hours in the gym to stay healthy. There's a lot of scientific evidence that you need moderate exercises for about 30 minutes each day. It could be bodyweight or even walking. And it would be enough.

    So here is the link.

Give it a try and share your thought with me.

Healthy work out tips for someone recovered from an ED

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 01:07 AM PST

Hi guys, I've just joined this group because in the last few years during my recovery from anorexia I've gained a lot of weight learning to eat whatever I want to. This has largely come in the form of fat and I'd like to get fitter (not neccesarily lose weight, just feel healthier). I don't want to work on diet because right now that's still challenging for me and I've worked hard to enjoy food but I want to try some super hecking basic exercises for an absolute beginner. I have been going for a walk around my street for 30 minutes everyday or so but I live in Australia so it's been ridiculously hot or rainy and so I would like some exercises I can do in the home that aren't too difficult. Thank you for any help you can give and good luck in your fitness journies!

How much cardio should I be doing while weight lifting?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 01:02 PM PST

So I decided to run a 5k and as a result I've been training for it with steady pace running. I've probably been running 2- 3 miles a week?

I've actually come to enjoy this type of cardio but obviously I can't be a good runner and a good weightlifter at the same time.

I was wondering how much running should I limit myself too so that I'm not missing out on gains. For now I'm more focused on steady pace distance running rather than high intensity sprint intervals

How to build strength in my arms after losing almost all of it due to tendonitis and tennis elbow?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 02:40 PM PST

Hello. I had a pretty bad tendonitis and tennis elbow about a year ago that kept me from exercising entirely and basically left me with weak t-rex arms. For over six months, I couldn't lift anything at all. Now I'm back, doing my strengthening exercises and really trying ro start out exercising my whole body to build strength and muscle. Did any of you have a similar injury and know how to properly start working out & at what pace to make sure the injury doesn't get reactivated?
