Beginner Fitness: Can someone honestly tell me if two rest days a week is too much

Can someone honestly tell me if two rest days a week is too much

    Posted: 16 Jun 2021 12:36 PM PDT

I get 173949 different answers. I'm tired and on a calorie deficit. Running five days a week is really hard, so I've been trying to switch it out with walking, biking, strength. Still finding I need two rest days. Input? On rest days should I still aim for 10000 steps? Depression be making my make life 🥴

How many times a week should I be training glutes? I seem to go to the gym and always work out the same thing. Also what are the best exercises for growing glutes.?

Went from hitting the gym for six months straight, to covid lockdown and loss of motivation. How would you go about getting back on track?

I lost all my motivation during lockdown, after building myself up to get to the point I was in the gym five days a week for six months. I'm trying to get back the motivation and drive. How would you go about doing it if it was you?

    Cardio or Weightlifting?

    Posted: 16 Jun 2021 05:17 PM PDT

So I've been between jobs thanks to covid and some related things, for the last few months, and I've fallen back into some bad habits, and I'm starting to get kinda chunky. My main focus is on beating those bad habits, and I know fitness (obviously) is one of the best ways to do that. But I usually keep the weight off by having a physical job, and now I don't have that. So my question is, what kind of exercise should I start with? Running, weightlifting, both, something else? Advice or a link to a guide or something would be extremely helpful

Do you have to eat over a calorie deficit to gain muscle? Or is it just way less painful?

    Posted: 16 Jun 2021 09:27 AM PDT

For reference 30 year old 150 lb female 5'5

I feel like this might be a dumb question, but I was eating at what I calculated was a 200 calorie deficit for me to lose weight. I was exhausted grumpy, and so weak I could barely make it through a 30 min work out. I went to a hitt type boot camp where there is a "light" tire for people to flip. I couldn't budge it, and it gave me a dark bruise on my arm just from bumping up against it. It seemed way wrong in every direction. Based on my sedentary job, my small frame, and my weight loss goals I thought 1,300 a day would be fine. But I had malnutrition symptoms. Very strange. That was weird. I hate to say it but I used to be a great athlete (cardio sports) and didn't eat much. It never effected my strength. I could just eat one meal a day and a granola bar and swim for 4 hours. I was slender but you'd never guess it was borderline unhealthy. I looked extremely healthy and toned. This was 7 years ago though. I've recently felt like inwagt to feel athletic again. I was actually quite thin like 130lbs? But I was soft and i didn't like it. So I decided to get into lifting and hitt. I've gained inches of soft since. Grabbable for those of you will tell me to ignore the scale.

Anyways I gave up dieting and lifting at the sane time because I was making no progress abd oddly enough not losing weight either. I spent ONE week not counting calories and stuffing my face and flipped that tire i couldnt budge before so fast I was suprised. It bounced! I just stood there and looked at it. So that pissed me off. Cleary I was weak from hunger. So I went a little over board and ate whatever I wanted for a month or so. I keep gaining muscle! But I've also added a fat role around the middle and don't fit into my pants I for into when I was "starving" like two months ago. I'm a 5'5 size large now from a medium 😅 okaaaay. But the more I eat the stronger I feel. I could eat 3,000 calories like it's nothing. I don't look over weight but I do NOT look thin. I also don't look buff. I'm a puffy swolen square. What gives?

    Bad knees on elliptical?

    Posted: 16 Jun 2021 12:14 PM PDT

I have ok knees, messed one up years ago and never got it fixed. I can jog just fine little extra pain but was curious if an elliptical would be a good workout machine to get some cardio in. I have a rower but the constant stretching and bending makes my knees hurt a bit more than normal and even when I keep them one way and just use my arms it still feels like alot of pressure.
