Daily Simple Questions Thread - January 08, 2021 Posted: 08 Jan 2021 02:00 AM PST Welcome to the /r/Fitness Daily Simple Questions Thread - Our daily thread to ask about all things fitness. Post your questions here related to your diet and nutrition or your training routine and exercises. Anyone can post a question and the community as a whole is invited and encouraged to provide an answer. As always, be sure to read the wiki first. Like, all of it. Rule #0 still applies in this thread. Also, there's a handy search function to your right, and if you didn't know, you can also use Google to search r/Fitness by using the limiter "site:reddit.com/r/fitness" after your search topic. Other good resources to check first are Exrx.net for exercise-related topics and Examine.com for nutrition and supplement science. If you are posting a routine critique request, make sure you follow the guidelines for including enough detail. (Please note: This is not a place for general small talk, chit-chat, jokes, memes, "Dear Diary" type comments, shitposting, or non-fitness questions. It is for fitness questions only, and only those that are serious.) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Jan 2021 12:37 AM PST Hi all, I'm looking for some insights on what would be a good idea to continue my fitness progress. In the last 6 months i've lost about 15kg's (from 87 to 72 kgs) mainly by running and eating less, and some resistance training. I'm male 25 and 182 cm. I was enjoying running and seeing the progress. But then late november I also realised I wanted to gain muscle, because I found myself looking too skinny while still not lean. I started eating a bit more calories in proteins and doing more weight lifting (4 days a week at home with dumbells). While there has been some visual progress my weight has stayed at the same level for the past 1.5 month. Also i'm still seeing some belly fat that i would have expected to be gone at the weight im at now. What I want is to get rid of the belly fat without losing more weight, and preferably gain more muscle aswell. Would i be able to get rid of the belly fat by just resistance training and eating to gain muscle? Would it be faster to do a period of cardio and diet to get rid of the last fat and then back to gaining? Would be great to hear what u guys think. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Jan 2021 12:58 AM PST Hey guys, I wanted to strike a discussion. I've read tons of popular programs to try and make my own. One thing that I've noticed is the lack of arms volume in most programs. You'd be lucky to see 6 sets per week for triceps/ biceps. Let alone forearms, maybe the most I've seen is 6 is Jeff nippard ppl. While other movements usually get a lot of love (Chest, Back, and Front delts). Accessories are put in the back seat. Side delts and read delts too (usually 6 sets per week, most have 3 sets of delt raises per week). My question is, and I am basing this on my own experience et De.Israetel recommendations, where the recommended volume is 16 22 for rear side delt and 12 16 for biceps triceps (minimum is like 8 or 9). No program even come close to achieve this , and those are one of the if not the most aesthetics parts. Arms are the 1st thing everyone sees. Never had any trouble recovering even with 12 14 sets, and I added tons of wrist curls, and holds and my forearms have never seen such an improvement. My grip exploded too ( deadlift are NOT enough for forearms / grip imo). This is a discussion, what's ur personal experience ? Do you think people went too far into compounds ? Do you think it's a Trend ? Or am I an anomaly ? (Which, by Mike Israetel sheet on hypertrophy, I am not ) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Jan 2021 02:00 AM PST Welcome to the Physique Phriday thread What's the point of having people guess your body fat? Nevermind that it's the most inaccurate method available, (read: most likely way wrong - see here) you're still just putting an arbitrary number to the body you have. Despite people's claim that they are shooting for a number, they're really shooting for look - like a six pack. So let's stopping mucking around with trivialities and get to the heart of the matter. This thread shall serve two purposes:
Let's keep things civil, don't be a creep, and adhere to Rule 1. This isn't a thread to announce what you find attractive in a mate. Please use the report function for any comments that are out of line. So phittit, what's your physique pheel like this phriday? [link] [comments] |
