Welcome to the /r/Fitness Daily Simple Questions Thread - Our daily thread to ask about all things fitness. Post your questions here related to your diet and nutrition or your training routine and exercises. Anyone can post a question and the community as a whole is invited and encouraged to provide an answer.

As always, be sure to read the wiki first. Like, all of it.

Also, there's a handy-dandy search bar to your right, and if you didn't know, you can also use Google to search fittit by using the limiter "site:reddit.com/r/fitness" after your search topic.

Other good resources to search are Exrx.net for exercise-related topics and Examine.com for nutrition and supplement science.

Be aware that the more relevant information you add, the more relevant the answers you receive will be. And if you are posting about your routine, please make sure you follow the guidelines.

(Please note: This is not a place for general small talk or chit-chat. Also, the community decided long ago that we keep jokes, trolling, and memes outside of the Daily Q&A threads. Please use the downvote / report button when necessary.)

    Weighted vest for calisthenics

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 12:01 PM PST

Like many of you, I have been working out from home for months now I have been enjoying calisthenics and how much I can do body weight wise, actually have not lost any gains

What I am wondering is purchasing an adjustable weighted vest I've been using a backpack with weights but it very cumbersome Some have told my not to because it could lead to back injury This so specifically for pullups, pushups, etc Trying to recreate those heavy load days like with free weights

Has anyone else had experience using vests in this capacity?

I’d like to get back on my fitness journey! Any tips you guys may have ?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 04:31 AM PST

    Happy Sunday!

I've been in the Air force for about 2 years now and I can honestly say, being in this branch is A LOT harder to stay fit than when I was a civilian.

    I'll explain.

Before I joined I had a very strict schedule of 3 am wake up time, a small healthy snack before the gym then a healthy breakfast after. I'd prioritize my protein because I wanted to gain muscle and meal prepped everyday all while still working full time. My results were great!

I've been wanting to go back to it and when I finally do, I suddenly stop and my main issue isn't so much finding the time to go to the gym. That's much easier. It's trying to find the time to eat properly. I live in the dorms, where we have no kitchen and our Dining facility has very few healthy options and rarely any protein ever. They are open only certain times a day and usually I'm at work. It's really hard to get more than 1 meal a day with the kind of job that I have. Since we don't get lunch breaks and are always on the go.

Anyway.... enough about that. How can I start getting back to my fitness journey? What do you guys think I should do regarding getting proper nutrition? Thanks 😊

I'd also like to note that I live in a tiny base in the middle of now where Idaho, where the nearest healthier restaurant is 60 miles away LOL

Itching from beta alanine, does it ever subside?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 04:11 AM PST

I take a preworkout when I lift heavy, does the itching from beta alanine ever ease off after using for a while? Also, is there a recommended time frame to use it? For context my preworkout contains creatine monohydrate, beta alanine, betaine anhydrous, L-tyrosine and glycerol monostearate
