I always drink coffee before my workout because I felt it made me stronger/energetic so I tried one session without and I was right, how do I fix this?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 01:55 AM PST

I've been making coffee in the mornings as a little pre workout to get my hyper and ready to take on the day even though I hate the taste of coffee but yesterday I didn't have coffee and tried to complete a 4x8 of bench since the previous session I completed 3x8 + 1x6 so I thought I would be able to get it this session but I went to the gym without caffeine thinking it wouldn't make a difference and I ended up barely getting 7 reps in the first set and it all went downhill from there and the rest of the workout I was feeling kind of lethargic aswell. Is this due to the caffeine or was it something else?

If the goal is hypertrophy when performing the bench press, should i arch at all?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 07:58 AM PST

We know that increasing range of motion is useful in the context of muscle building. With this being said, wouldn't it be better to just keep the natural arch of the lumbar region and not arching too much. I don't mean arching like a power lifter since those people wishes to lift the most weight, naturally, arching a lot will facilitate that.

Can a belt help me stop arching my back while overhead pressing

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 11:16 PM PST

I am just getting into lifting after a few years working an office job and my lower back hurts while overhead pressing which was never a problem before. I know it's because my back and hamstrings are tight, my abs are weak and so on from sitting too much but in the meantime will a weightlifting belt stop my core from moving forward and causing low back pain during the lift? I have never worn a belt before and OP used to be my favorite lift but I was more flexible back then working outdoors.

    Flat belly

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 03:37 AM PST

Hi, i have a question. My bf is currently at ~11-12% and i can see my abs but my belly is somehow floaty. It is flat only when i pull it in. Is it a sign of a weakness of a certain muscles and my posture? Could this be connected with pelvic floor muscles?

I wanna be able to do that The Matrix Neo kick, where he kicks agent smith down the hallway then turns while keeping his leg basically above his waist.

In other words...what routines could I be doing to increase strength and flexibility in my legs. My hip flexors are in bad shape.

Are my glutes not working if they don’t burn while doing the workout?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 10:27 PM PST

when i squat, deadlift or hip thrust my glutes never burn DURING the exercise. some times immediately after i do hip thrusts they burn and sometimes after my workout they feel sore so i'm just not sure if i'm working them enough. also i do activation before and dynamic stretching. i'm 170lbs f and i think i get about 100g of protein a day. any thoughts or suggestions. i do lift heavier weights and i think i'm pushing myself while doing them

What do you do against sore muscles?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 01:33 AM PST

I did my tricep/chest workout three hours ago and about an hour ago this really bad pain started to develop in my left deltoid.

Because I very rarely experience such pains, I do not know what to do. I was hoping people here could share their tips with me. Thanks in advance!

How long does protein synthesis remain after your workout?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 03:23 AM PST

I'm on a bulk and i wanted to know how long mps remains after a workout. I've heard people say 48 hours but I've also heard 36 as well as 72. Which is it? I hit my muscle groups twice a week. They get 3 days to rest. Is that too long and mps no longer remains?

How to tie in a Manual Working Job and a Gym /or Soccer training afterwards.

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 01:19 AM PST

Hi, I've just started a manual labor job in a warehouse as a casual job just to earn some extra cash. I play high level soccer too, so during my offseason i like to get a job that keeps me in some physical condition. At first i thought it would be kinda easy going, thought wrong..

However, i feel so exhausted at the end of the day (8-4pm) to do any sort of physical training. I try and eat a lot of snacks though-out the day but still feeling fatigued. Some days i've been to the gym or trained but the following day i'm sore and shitty. How do i overcome this? Do i need a scheduled routine or just eat like a motherfucker? ta

Increasing training max in 5/3/1 Beginners

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 12:16 AM PST

After reading one of Jim Wendler's blog posts about 5/3/1 and consulting the /fitness wiki, I started the program myself and finished my first week. I know it's not time to worry about increasing weight yet (two more weeks), but I had some questions about the various avenues I could go.

Background: I'm in my late 20s, was very lean and muscular in high school (but not very strong) from weight training, but fell out of shape and stayed that way upon entering and graduating college. I'm tired of feeling like a blob so I'm started to lift again.

My understanding is that a lot of strength gains in the first few weeks/months of weight training are due mostly to the neuromuscular coordination improving and increased muscle recruitment. I tested my 1RM cold, basically in a totally deconditioned state. I bet that a month or two from now I would've able to lift a fair bit more than my current 1RM/TM.

Dilemma: 5/3/1 says that you should add around 5 kg to squat/DL and 2.5 kg to BP/OP after a three week cycle, and deloading every 4th (or is it 3rd?) cycle. Do I...

    1) Just add the 5/2.5 kg according to the program, even if the program continues to feel easy?

    2) Re-test or re-estimate my 1RMs after a few cycles and then use the new TM to direct future cycles?

    3) Increase weight by considering RPE somehow?

    4) Something else entirely?

Really interested to hear your thoughts. TIA.

    Opinion on Power Reels?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 08:35 AM PST

I was thinking of getting these Power Reels I thought they seem convenient since they seem to be dumbbells and resistance band in one. I read some good reviews but since they can easily be faked, or done by inexperienced users I wanted to get an experienced opinion if they make sense or are more of a gimmick?
