Is it a bad idea to just throw myself into this?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 04:56 AM PST

I've never been to the gym before in my life. I found a beginner routine online (Stronglifts) but although it consists of only 3 exercises per workout (squat, bench press, barbell row OR squat, overhead press, deadlift) however it seems like there's a lot of reading to be done (how to perform the exercise correctly, stance etc.) before I even think of turning up (or so it seems). I've been slowly getting through the reading but it's been diminishing my motivation without even having started lol and seems a little useless anyway since unlike a squat it's not like I can just practice how to do a bench press at home etc..

Would it be a horrible thing if I just threw myself into this in the hopes of picking up things as I go along? I'm afraid that the further I put this off the less it's likely I'll ever set foot on the rubber flooring of the gym lol. Those of you who've been doing gym for a while, how much preparation did you put into this before you actually set out for some gainz?
