Mandatory Pose Wednesday - Abdominal and Thigh

    Posted: 04 Mar 2020 05:16 AM PST

    Welcome back to MPW!

    NEXT WEEK'S POSE: Most Muscular

Welcome back to another installment of Mandatory Pose Wednesday! Were hitting Abs and Thigh today.

    1) As always, start from the ground up. Start with your feet slightly spread apart, and one foot forward. Angle your back foot outwards at 45° to ensure that quad sweep can be activated. The front foot should be at about 15°. The major differences between this pose and the other front poses are that the legs are not spread as far apart, and that one leg is forward. A different option would be to go on your heel of the front foot and spike your toes, it totally depends what you want to show, your calves or your tibialis anterior. Flex your legs HARD.

    2) Next put both hands over your head, you can actually grab your head. Or put your hands by your ears like your going to do a sit-up. Either way, you want your elbows out towards the sides to create that dramatic "V" shape.

    3) Crunch down and blow out all of your air. At the very end, make a little "cough" to get the last bit of air out and watch your abs rip up. To hold this pose with no air in your lungs takes a lot of practice and conditioning. Some people have mastered very shallow breathing techniques that do not compromise the pose very much, but another alternative is to change poses. This allows you both the opportunity to take a good breath, and you can also showcase different angles of your physique and your ability to "fight for it" on stage which if done tastefully can account for additional stage presence points.

    Examples:

    Lee Priest

    Dorian

    Zane

    2014 Olympia

    Shawn Ray Gif

    What were here for:

Critique the pose, not the poser.

Everybody is welcome to participate, this aint mirin mondays so dont worry about the status of your bulk or cut. We are here to improve.

Every pose can be hit in more than one fashion. Individual criticisms tailored to the posters physique are absolutely welcome!
