Beginner Fitness: Cardio or lifting first?

Beginner Fitness: Cardio or lifting first?

    Cardio or lifting first?

    Posted: 22 Mar 2021 07:16 PM PDT

Like many of us, I have put on about 20 lbs since quarantine started. Before that I would go to the gym 4 days a week and do about 35 minutes of cardio then 25 minutes of strength training. I didn't have any major goals then but maintained a healthy weight and enough muscle to make me happy.

Now my goal is to drop weight and feel normal and build muscle mass from there. I have been told by different people that it is more beneficial to lift before running. I explain that I'm trying to just lose weight and build muscle after. They say the strength training will be more beneficial than running.

NOW...who is right? Better yet, what are the pros and cons to each?

I have also changed my diet and have dropped a few pounds these past few weeks so that seems to be under control now.

    Thanks in advance!!

a friend of mine suggested the Bike Run Club app. I am NEW to running and doing alot of interval running - wondering if there's an app similar to Nike run club that includes time intervals - I listen to music on Spotify and liked that both apps audio ran at the same time !
