hi guys, so i'm new to fitness and I just got a membership a few weeks ago at a gym near me. its more of a health club type place (pool/tennis courts and stuff) so i thought there wouldnt be strict/scarily strong people there, but today I was in my second week of starting strength and doing deadlifts (only 40kg, yes i know it's very bad) and i had noticed a guy with his friends looking over at me and laughing. this dude was really huge (like a bodybuilder) and he just had that powerlifter look, and mid set he came up to me with his friends watching him. I set the bar on the floor and was going for the next rep but he put his hand on my chest then sort of pushed me , not forcefully but as if i was just something to be brushed aside. he picked up the bar and started doing barbell curls with it, dropped it and laughed then just said "i curl that.". he smirked and went back to his friends, them laughing and people in the weight area just sort of smirking and looking over.

to be honest i'm very upset. i know he was probably just joking with the new person (me) but it did make me feel really bad, because i know i'm weak and he just made me look like shit in front of everyone. on top of this i was really anxious about going to the gym, but i read about this on /r/fitness and stuff and i heard this type of stuff didn't happen. i guess it does for me. i dont really want to go back because ive seen him there more than once before and i'm scared he'll do it again. if i go to staff i'll probably just be mocked by them and they'll tell him because ive seen him joking with PTs and stuff before. i already missed todays second workout (swimming, i know its bad :( but i just couldnt go). by the way im really short and only 115lbs so im a pretty easy target for this stuff.

    Beginner sandbag training

    Posted: 11 Dec 2020 12:35 PM PST

    Hi!

I've started working out recently. I used to do some stuff with a 16kg kettlebell ( swings, clean and press squats, turkish getup) but I've quickly found the bell to be too light for me. And as I can't afford to get a new bell right now I decided to do some sandbag traning. I've found a routine on another board (https://www.reddit.com/r/weightroom/comments/fj76nr/pandemic_proof_strength_training_a_solution_for/) which consists of :

    A. Press Day (With light bag):

    1. Sandbag Clean to Press: 3 x 5+
    2. Sandbag Floor Press: 3 x 8+
    3. Sandbag Rows: 5 x 10+
    4. Tricep/Bicep/Delt Work: High reps 8+

    B. Leg Day (With heavy bag):

    1. Sandbag Clean to Front Squat: 6 x 5+
    2. Sandbag Bear Hug Carry: 6 x 10m/30ft
    3. Kettlebell/Dumbbell Russian Twists: 5 x AMRAP
    4. Kettlebell Swings: EMOM 10 x 15-20

Is this routine okay for a beginner? And if so what the weight of light and heavy bag should be for me? What kind of warm up should I do? With kb ii did some squats and halos and that did warm me up pretty well for that kind of exercises is this kind of warm up okay?

Budget running shoes that are waterproof

    Posted: 11 Dec 2020 02:55 AM PST

Interested in running for the first time but don't know what shoes to get. I'm based in the UK so the weather is always on the gloomy side so they would have to be weather ready. UK websites or such would be useful! I also have a voucher from sportsdirect that I've been meaning to use for some time haha!

    Thank you in advance x
